About Us

Welcome to the web site for the new company, Stage Right Productions at Columbus Square. If you are an active live theatre audience member here in the Erie community, you will recognize our space and several of the actors who appear on stage and in the house. If you are new to Erie theatre, we are especially glad to see you and hope this is the beginning of a tradition for you.

A few words about who we are and what we hope to do...

First, yes, we are a newly formed group. Why? We hope to be able to add something new to what is already being offered by the established theatres in town. Especially, we hope to be able to present it in such a way as to help others as much as we help ourselves. This is a project closely connected to the objectives of our host building’s Community Shelter Services. Watch throughout the coming year for joint presentations between us.

For you, our patron, though, what is more important is that we hope to present good live theatre, because we enjoy doing it, and we believe audiences enjoy seeing it.

We have all been involved in theatre on different levels and in different venues, some of us for many years. Of course, that is not the same as starting a company from the ground up. Please wish us success, as we look forward to entertaining you for a long time to come.

Then sit back, relax and enjoy!

Community Shelter Services

Community Shelter Services, Inc. (CSS) has provided temporary emergency shelter, meals and referrals to low-income, homeless families and individuals since 1973. CSS has been working hard to renovate the old Columbus School at 17th and Poplar to provide a home for those who would otherwise have no place to go. She felt that having a theatre company that was dedicated to producing quality entertainment in the beautiful space provided by the auditorium would help bring a taste of culture and bit of light to the residents at the shelter. We were more than happy to take up the reins of the empty auditorium and turn it into a real theatre.

American Association of Community Theatre

We are a proud member of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT). AACT exists to foster and encourage the development of, and commitment to, the highest standards by community theatres throughout the United States of America, including standards of excellence for production, management, governance, community relations and service.
